ANNUAL MEETING.

The twentieth annual general meeting of mehibers of the A Wellington Provincial Industrial Association was held last night, Mr. E. Bull being in the chair. The annual report and the balanceshoot' were adapted. In the annual report the General Committee expressed th& hope ■ that when tho war was, over tho people of the Dominion would remain firm in their expressed intention to trade within tho Empire. Deferring to the proposed Board of .Trade'and Industries, the report said:—"Such a board would doubtless he of great importance. to tie Dominion, and should' be welcomed by our manufacturers and workers alike. The great importance of our manufacturing life has uot been acknowledged, and probably has not been 'realised., by;.our, successive members of Parliament. ■ 'When this matter comes before Parliament we trust it will receive the full' attention which such an important proposal as a New Zealand 'Board : of Trade and Industry is entitled' to." On the matter of industrial displays at railway stations, the report said that such displays would prove educational, and on this account the association was seeking. permission to arrange displays at tho stations in all the principal cities of the Dominion. Other subjects dealt with in the report were the employment of wounded soldiers, Dominions Royal Commission, industrial awards, manufacture ot munitions, proposed patriotic exhibition, and awards at tlio Panama Exposition. • The statement of accounts showed that tho excess of incomo over expenditure for the past year amounted to £32 lis. Id., and the accumulated funds how amounted to £11G9 IDs. 3d. . Officers for the ensuing year were .eleefced as follow President, Mr. E. J. Evans; vice-presidents, Messrs. H. 11. Reid and L. T. Watkins; lion, treasurer, Mr. Hardie Shaw;, auditors, Messrs. A. T: Clarke and A. S. Buss; general committee.. Messrs. C. B. Norwood, T. Ballincjer, E. Bull, F. C. Crease, J. P. Luke, R. Hall, A. W. Newton, C. Palliser. W. J. Thompson, W. Elgin, W. L. Palmer. L. R. Partridge, W. Cable, S. Campbell, W. Crabtrec, R. L. Denton, W. Ma'nthel, S. C. Barron, W. M'lay', D. Roberte son, F. Rouse, G. Sherwood, R. Tomliii, and tho president of the Wellington. Builders and Contractors' Association. Messrs. 0. M. Luke, J. E. Atkins, and L. Aslicroft Edwards attended the meeting and addressed members on the aims and objects of the, proposed patriI otic exhibition to be held at the Town Hall, Wellington, :n February next. The addresses were listened to' with keen interest, and resolutions conveying thanks and offers of assistance were' carricd.
