11IXED POSITION IN AUCKLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland} September 20. The announcement that tlio Auckland Patriotic Association Carnival Coniniil-tco will have rccourso to mit unions and prize drawings as one of the many means by which money will bo raised in connection with the' forthcoming Queen Carnival lias evoked widespread interest and not a little criticism. In somo quarters the proposal is loudly condemned, and in others .it is applauded. The Bishop of Auckland has invited the clergy of the aiucoso to confer with the Auckland Ministers' Association and other representatives oi tlio noil-Anglican churches as to what course of action shall be taken by tlio churches in regard to the carnival.
