(By Telegraph.—Fress Association.) Dunedin, September 19., the Dunedin Competitions Society held a day for children on Saturday, the attendance being large. The results of the principal competitions wore:— Piano Duet (under 14). —Ida A. M Connell, 1. Reading Music at Sight (under io).— Evelyn Duke, 1; Ivv Irene Cunningbam, 2; Mabel D. M'lvor, 3. Humorous Recitation (girls under 12). —Flo Lennox (Dunedin), 1; Audrey Eagar (Dunedin), 2; Sophie Vivian (Dunedin) and Gwen Chapman (Christchurch). 3. ■ Humorous R,ecitation (boys under 16). —Ralph Vivian, 1; Richard Beck, 2; J. A. Duncan, 3.
The New Zealand.Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received instructions from Mr. H. E. Worboys, Gladstone Road, Levim to auction the whole of his farm and dairy stock on September 25. The Wellington Suburbs Defence Rifle Olub hold their annual meeting at the Drill Hall at 7.30 o'clock this evening.
