THORNDON METHODIST SUNDAY-SCHOOLS
The anniversary celebrations of the Thorndon Methodist Sunday Schools were continued, when a successful concert was held, tliero being a very large attendance tho Rev. G. S. Cook presiding. Short addresses were delivered by the chairman and Mr. J. B. Haddon Recitations were given by Pegn-ie M'Clug'gage ( ' Ethel James,' Connio Smith, Doris Rushton, Vera Collins Don M'Kenzie, and a solo by Dora Collins. Three dialogues wore effectively rendered, as also were an action song and girls' and boys' choruses. Scholars and choir, under the baton of Mr. T. Sims, rendered special choruses in a capital manner, Misses J. Nicholas and G. Balding presiding at the organ and piano respectively. The annual reports, read by Mr. C. N. Smith (Molesworth Street and Mr' C. 0. Coad (Sydney Street), revealed the fact that the various departments of scliool work had made good progress The scholars and teachers of °botli schools had decided by ballot to forego their annual picnic, with tho result that tho sum of £8 10s. had been handed over to aid tho Belgian children For homo and foreign missions' a total of £9 13s. Id. had been received, whilst nn amount of £2 Os. Id. had been transferred to the orphanage fund. A vote of appreciation was accorded - to those who had nseitcd in making tho onniversary such an -unqualified success.
