WELLINGTON HARRIERS
Tho Wellington Harriers held their five-mile championship at Miramar on Saturday. Tho officials for the race Were as follow—Starter and timekeeper Mr. M. H. Pollock; judges, Messrs! R. M'Villy and H. A. Lamb. From a good start M. Donaldson soon went to the front, and at the gasometer he had a- lead of about one hundred yards from Turnbull, Culverwell, and Bennett, and after going about three miles was still leading by about two hundred yards. On leaving the sand dunes, Turnbull drew level with the leader, and after a good finish succeeded in winning from Donaldson, with W. Bennett third. Tho winner's time was 30min. 32sec. On the adjusting of the handicaps it was found that M. Donaldson had won tho sealed handicap, with C. Fisher second. SCOTTISH HARRIERS, The Scottish * Harriers held their wind-up social and danco in the Scottish Society s rooms on Wednesday evening, some thirty couples being present. During the course of the evening ! tho trophies won during tho season were presented by Mrs. R. Fletcher,'assisted ? Foster ' President of tho Scottish Society. The prize-list was as follows:—Novice Race: E. Welsh, 1: S. Waters Three-mile Sealed Handicap: W. Ballantyne, 1; S. Hall, 2 Half-mile Ladies' Bracolet: R. Waters 1; S. Waters, 2. Five-mile Sealed Handicap: S. Hall, 1; S. Waters, 2. Championship: R. J. Ballantyne, 1; S. Hall 2. The . prize for most points scored in the runs-in was won by W Ballantyne. * The following contributed to tho vogramme:—Misses Alice Campbell *V. Spearman, and Messrs. Donald Yo'umr, o. Hall, and J. Patterson.
