. .MEETING OP COUNCIL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. . Christohurch,. September 15. Tbe council of the New Zealand Bowling Association met to-day, there being present Messrs. M. P. Barnett (president), Colonel R. J. Collins, I'. Stevens, J. W. Beanland, R. .Wylie, W. Helliwell, and: C. Russell Smith. The president welcomed the new members .of tbe council, also those niembers who had attended from outside of Christeluirch. • . Colonel Collins (Wellington) returned thanks for the welcome. Mr. D. E.' Wood was appointed secretary to the council. ' • ■! On the question of holding tho annual tournament this year, Mr. Russell Smith'said the council should recognise that the circumstances' this, year were, somewhat different. He thought the tournament should be held, but with certain conditions attached. Tt should be in the nature of a patriotic toiirnament, and an endeavour should be made to raise as much as possible for one of the patriotic fund 3.: Tile expenditure should be kept down to the minimum, and no prizes should be awarded,- only certificates given. ' 1 _ Mr. Wylie suggested that the rink, entry should be £2, • pairs £1, and singles. 10s. On, this basis £200 should bo handed over to some_ patriotic fund. Colonel Collins moved: "That the tournament be held tbis year as a patriotic tournament." This was carried unanimously. ' It was decided that the tournament should consist of rinks, doubles, and singles, 'and the date fixed for the commencement of the tournament was Janiiary 10,. 1916. , It was decided that rinks be played on" Monday j'(rTuasday;:nWedne'sday', =.and; Thursday -in"sections' of ten each, teams to bo drawn for different greens foi/each day's play;.doubles to be played in sections of four on the Friday; finals of rinks and doubles to be played in sections of four on the Friday; finals of rinks and doubles to be played on Saturday ; , singles to start on the following, Monday. _ > It was decided to adopt a 1 modified two-life system for rinks, and doubles to be 21 heads, with no time limit in cases of ties, first score after 21st head to decide; singles to be played 16 heads up to green winners, when 21 heads should be played. ,

: Mr. Wylie: moved that the entrance fees for rinks should be £2 2s. The motion was. carried. The entrance fee for doubles was fixed at £1 Is., and for singles 7s. 6d. It was decided that play should start at 9 a.m. and at 1 p.m.,- luncheon interval 12 to l; one game to be played in the morning and two in the afternoon, with no time limit.
