Sir Claude Maxwell Macdonald, who while Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary at Peking defended the Legations during the Boxer rising, is dead. SIR. W. VAN HORNE. Montreal, September 11. The death is announced of Sir William Cornelius van Homo, who was chairman of the Canadian Pacific Railway from 1899 to 1910.
