London, July 22. Mr. Jack Parker, of Auckland, is staying in Manchester. Mr. Frank L. Gordon, of Hawlre s Bay, is in North Devonshire. J. Nelson, of Adelaide. Mr. J. Oakley Brown, of Wellington, leaves on his return to Now Zealand by the Beltana on July 29. Mr. Oakley Brown's book on Shakespeare is being considered by tho publishers. Mrs. Hastings Bridge, of Christchurch, has left London for some time, and is staying at Birmingham with her daughter, whose husband, Lieutenant A. H. Maclaurin, of Gisbornej who for the past twelve months has been studying architecture in London, and previous to that spent three years in the Architectural Department of the University of Pennsylvania, Phil., U.S.A., has passed the final examination of the Royal Institute of Brit ish Architects. Mrs. Ellis Wrigley, of Tauranga, whose husband is with the British section of the N.Z.E.F., has put her home at Higholiffe, Hants, at the disposal of any Now Zealand soldiers wiio would like to spend a few days or weeks there, and is also assisting in Red Cross work. Air. H. D. Vavasojr, of Blenheim (N.Z.). has just returned to London from Bristol, where he has been the guest of' Mr. Jos. Holman. _ Mr. Vavasour is accompanied by. his wife. and children. Mr. J. W. Gorrie and Miss Nora Gorrie, son and daughter of Mr. H. T. Gorrie, • Epsom, Auckland, arrived in England by tho St. Louis, on June 20, and have been staying with their sister, Mrs. Algernon Borthwick, of Highmoro Hall, near Henley-on-Thames. They are lioiv the guests of Lady Whitburgh, 39 Upper Grosvenor Street, W. Mr. Gorrie has joined the Inns of Court 0.T.C., and is shortly leaving for Berkhampstead. Mr. J. M. Mathows, P.A.G.D.C. P.S.G.W. (N.Z.), representative of New Zealand at tho United Grand Lodge, who has been for many years manager at'the Duke of York's Theatre for the lato Mr. Charles Frohman, has now been appointed manager at the Hippodrome, New York. He was entertained at Frascati's by a number of his Masonic friends, who presented him with an illuminated address and purse of gold. The testimonial was signed by the leading officials of the Genesius Club, of which Mr. Mathews has been the preceptor for many years, tho Logic Club, the Lodge of Asaph, the Cathedral Lodge, and the Chelsea and Proscenium Lodges. Mrs. N. Marshall Wilson arrived in England by the Rotorua on May 20. She camo to join her husb'and, who returned to England to join his old regiment, the. East Surreys, but on his arrival he was asked to help in Kitchener's Army, and joined tho 9th Cheshires. He has ,beeh promoted to major, and loaves shortly for the front. Mrs.. Wilson's address is 19 Regent's Park Road, N.W. Miss Mary C. Greer, of Gisborne (N.Z.), who arrived in England a few days ago, is a trained masseuse, and has: come to offer her services in that capacity. She is at present in London. London, July 29. Mr. David Hutton, of Belleknowes, Dunediu, arrived by the Osterley ten days ago, and lias applied for a commission.

Mr. Thomas W. Jeans, of Dunedin, intends staying in London some time before going on to Scotland. He hopes later'to pay a visit to France. Miss Frances W. Lee, Hastings, Hawke's Bay, arrived in England on July 11 tq offer her services to the War Office. Mr. S.' Turkington, who left New Zealand at the end of May, arrived by the Orient liner Osterley, and after staying in London a few days has now gone to Ireland. He is at present at Dromore, and intends to visit Londonderry, Dublin, and Killarney, returning to England in October. Lieutenant Alan C. Rout, Nelson Company, Canterbury Battalion, New Zealand Expeditionary Force, who was wounded at the Dardanelles in the at T taclc on June 3 and 4, is now convalescent, and has been sent to England from Malta for two months. _ Ho intends to spend most of his timo in London, and is now staying at tho Strand Palace Hotel. , ■ Captain A. G.. B. Price, Adjutant, Auckland Regiment, who was wounded at tho Dardanelles, arrived in England on Juno 22. . Ho will probably be lioro two months, and will visit London, Birmingham, Scotland, and Weymouth. Mr. F. B. Crouch, New Zealand Railway Department, of Wellington, arrived in Enirland on June 21, on private business. He is on extended leave from the Railway Department, and when he has completed his business ho intends to ioin tlio forces.
