MT. HECTOR TOURIST TRACK

The Mount Hector Tourists' Track Committee met in' Greytown on Wednesday evening, there being present the Mayor and Messrs. W. Workman, H. tidy, H.. Humphries, A. L. Webster, T. M. Drummond, A. Murray, and M. Manton (secretary). It was decided to instruct Mr. Workman to proceed with the work of clearing up the track and extending same to Mount Hector. It is stated that the tram from Greytown to Mount Alpha will be in capital' order, and before December it is hoped to have a satisfactory horse tram up to Mount Hector. The hut at Mount Alpha will be appreciated by those who happen to be overtakon by bad weather. Funds are now needed to orect a hut in the Tauherinikau Gorge. Parties can now make arrangements for a guide, as a member of the committee lives up the Waiohine Gorge, and will endeavour to accompany tourists requiring his. help. i . '
