HOCKEY TOURNEY
FIFTH ROUND. Matches in the fifth round of the New Zealand Girls' Hockey Tourney were Slayed on the Basin Reserve yesterday, 'esults:—
Canterbury 5, Wanganiii 0. '.. Poverty Bay 1, Hawke's Bay 0. Wairarapa 2, Manawatu 2. CANTERBURY AND WANGANUI. Canterbury defeated Wanganui by 5 goals to nil, the scorers in the southern team being Miss Martin (3), Miss Pearce. and Miss Barr. The referee was ili;. J. C. Cusack. POVERTY BAY AND HAWKE'S BAY. After a very interesting game, Poverty Bay defeated Hawke's Bay by 1 goal to nil, the winning score being gained by Miss F. Hill. Messrs. Jones and Wykes acted' as referees.
WAIBAIUPA AND MANAWATU. TJie game between the Wairarapa and Manawatu teams resulted, in a draw, eacli side scoring two goals. Wairarapa led by two goals to nil in the first half, Miss Humphries and Miss Dooley gaining the points. In the second half, Miss M'Murray and Miss Kerslako brought the Manawatu score to the same level. Messrs. G. Carver' and Lodder were the referees.
REFEREES AND MANAGERS. The annual fixture between the Referees _ and the Managers of. teams resulted in the former being victorious by four goals to nil. Sheerau (2), Kuch, and Murphy, scored for the winners. The-matches to be played to-day will be _ Canterbury v. Wellington; Wangar.ui v. Wairarapa, Manawatu v. Poverty Bay. Tho games commence •at 3 p.m. '
