(Continued from Page 2) Red cross Concert at Island Bay. 1 A very succcssfiil concert organised by the St. John Ambulance and. Hetl Gross Workers in aid of the Red Cross Funds was held iii the. Island Bay Hall, liumber Street, iast evening. There was an excellent attendance, some of those among the audience having travelled out from town to attend, and a bright and varied programme, consisting of songs, recitations, sketches, etc., was presented to an appreciative audience. Contributing were the following performers Mr. H. F. Wood, song, "Here's to Lovo and Laughter" ; Master Robert Smith, recitation, "Children of the Empire" ; Miss Violet Mueller, L.A.8., song, "Spring"; Miss Betty Purdom, recitation; Miss Grant, song, "Till tlie Boys Com© Home"; Miss Betty Purdom and Mr. Culford Bell, comedy sketch, "A Bus Bide";-Mr. E. J. Hill, song; Miss Lonsdale, song (humorous); Miss Rita Perry, recitation, "Her Young Sister Over Again"; members of the St. John Ambulance Nursing Divisions, chorus, "Bod Cross." The accompanist ivas Miss E. Bartley, and encores were frequent. The singing of the National Anthem brought a very pleasant entertainment to a close.
A dance recital, 'taken part in by Miss G. M. Campbell's pupils, is to be given in the Grand Opera House on Wednesday evening, September 15, in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund and the. Mayor's, Patriotic Fund. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Nelson ville) are in town and are staying at the Royal Oak Hotel... Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Wallace left for Sydney yesterday.
