-t . MITCHELL' AND MURPHY: DISQUALIFIED. , . (Bi> Telegraph—Press Association J / Hamilton, September 4. Correspondence relating to the _ Mit-chell-Murpliy contest for the middleweight championship, which the referee declared "no contest" oil the ground that the men were not trying, wais read at a.meeting of; the Waikato Boxing Association last night. Statements by both - contestants were put in. Murphy said he tried throughout. Mitchell stated lie was approached by Mr. F. Hand, president, and Mr. W. Jordan, a mamtier of the executive, asking him to prolong the fight. He could have knocked Murphy out any time he. wished. Messrs. Hand and Jordan said tliey did remark in-a jocular .manner: "Givo tho public a show for their money." Both contestants were disqualified for six months.
