In connection with the war census, Mr. Holman, the State Premior, has decided to send unmarried men, between the ages of 18 and 45 years a personal appeal, to enlist. ' ,The' New South Wales , Police Force has enlisted-14,151 men. .WAR CENSUS CARDS ISSUED. (Rec. September .5, 3.30 p.m.) .'London, September 5., The war census cards iliavo beon issued. There was i a great rush to the ■Post Office to procure them. A provision has been added requiring that thoso who reach the age of 18 after the closing of the, day of tho'census must fill in the ■ cards and return within fourteen days of reaching such age. INSIDIOUS PAMPHLETS. ANTI-RECRUITING INTRIGUE. ■_/ . Sydney, September 4. _ Anti-recruiting pamphlets are being circulated in some of tli9 country (listricts. One-examined'was entitled "Two Wars." It is unmistakably German in origin, and designed to' convince . the -reader i - that the Allies are firfiting on the sido ,of capitalism,-and fighting to shackle unborn generations. . It is stated that tho Defence. Department can deal ;witli 16,000 men' every month, the quota from the various States _ being: New South Wales'and Victoria, 5200 each ; Queensland, 2200; South Australia, 1400 ; Western Australian, 1200; Tasmania-, 800. The committee urges that : the' call should bo mado primarily to the young unmarried men, but as the need is urgent married'volunteers should be accepted. ... .'.
