WORKS SCANDAL IN MANITOBA
EX-PREMIER AND MINISTERS ARRESTED CHARGES OF GRAFT Br Tolctraph—Press Association—Copyright ("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.) (Rec. September 4, 5.5 p.m.) London, September 4. The "Times" correspondent at Toronto reports that Sir R-. P. Robbin, formerly Premier of Manitoba, and Messrs. W. H. Montague. J. H. Howden, and G. R. Coldwell, all members of the lata Conservative Government, have been arrested, for conspiring to defraud, in permitting the contractors for the new . Parliament Buildings to draw large sums for work they had not performed ; also for acting in collusion to increase the. prices under the contract. Their arrest is a technical one—the accused consenting to appear in court without on being admitted to bail in the sum of £10,000.
