PATRIOTIC FUND CONTROL
ATTITUDE OF DUNEDIN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, August 31. ' Tlie Otago Patriotic Executive met Mr. D. M'Laren, of Wellington, to-day, in reference to the;coming conference and Mr. Skerr.ett's proposal re administration. Mr. M'Laren promised that the conference on September 15 would bo as freo as possible, and ho asked the local association to prepare a memorandum as to how the hind should be hold and administered, and how far -they should go by way of reciprocity and federation! Mr. Johnstone (the _ local president) expressed the general view of the association that Otago was definitely committed to local 'control, moneys having been raised on that understanding. A sub-committeq has been set up to go into matters prior to the conferonce. ' . ■.
Tho matron and staff of,tho Alexandra Home wish to thank the many generous friends who so kindly helped their sale of work on Thursday, August 26. Mrs. P. Dransfield has been visiting Wellington, and is leaving on a visit to Carterton. - ■ ! A bazaar in. aid of St. Thomas's vicarage debt fund is to be opeued in St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown, this afternoon,. by Her Excellency the Countess of Liverpool at .3- o'clock. The stalls will he arranged to represent all the Allies, and will present a very attractive display of goods of various kinds l<ith useful and ornamental. -. Various amusements have been arranged for each evening, as tho bazaar will be continued on Thursday and Friday as well. ' Mr. Hugh Burrell and the ■ Misses Burrell were passengers by the Ulimaroa from Sydney to Wellington on Monday.
