THE POSITION IN WELLINGTON. . Last woeb Dr. A. K. Newman (Wellington East) asked the Minister of Labour whether he would buy land in the neighbourhood of Evans Bay in Kilbirnie for building workers' dwellings? Replying yesterday, Mr. Massey said that the Workers' Dwellings Board, oil whose recommendation all land for workers' dwellings is purchased under Section 3, Subsection (2), of the Workers' Dwellings Act, 1910, reports that no land is required in Wellington at the present time. When tho few actions now available in the City are disposed of the board will consider the purchase of a suitable area in the localits' mentioned, having regard to tho wishes of the applicants for whom it is proposed to erect dwellings.
