Thero is oho little incident told in a paragraph in an English paper, which 'throws a pleasant light on the temperament and humanity of that much maligned person, tho censor. A private in a Lancashire Territorial regiment fij/ht--ing in Gallipoli sent a vivid desorintion of"his battalion's experiences.' Me men-. ,tions that ono of his best friends in tho regiment—"poor old Tommy H"— "got it in the neck." Tommy H — was evidently a. favourite in tlio regiment. They gave lum a. real good funeral. Tho dead man's pals attended tho obsequies in that strange outlandish scene just as they would have dono in some.. little quiet churchyard in the dells of the .Homeland. The writer remarks that B —and C — and Jv—and .several other friends actually walked under fire for a mile to be present and to pay their last tribute of respect and love for poor old Tommy H—. Tlie writer adds: "I don't know whether they got back safe afterwards, because they were under fire all the way .back .to their places in (lie line." After this concluding sentence of. the Territorial's letter there appears the following: ("They did.— C'euspr."" In its way (says an exchange) this is one of the prettiest little sideepisodes one has come across yet.
