UPROAR AT A LABOUR CONGRESS
I 'ANTI-WAR AGITATORS OUTVOTED By.Telograpli—Press Association—(JopyrlgM Johannesburg, August 23. There was an uproarious Labour Congress, attended by delegates from all parts of the Onion. Mr. Creswell, Labour M.P., moved " a resolution whole-heartedly supporting the rendering by the Union of all posi aible assistance to the Imperial Government in the prosecution of the war, end urging that financial responsibility for dependents' through casualties be a national obligation. ■ The resolution was adopted bv eigbtythreo votes to twenty-nine. The minority represented-the "War on the t War" faction, whbse ohief leader, Mr. 'Andrews,, a member of the Assembly, had summoned this congress, and presided. He refused to put Mr.- Oreswell's resolution, and' quitted the chair. His followers sang the Labour sone "The Red Flag;" : • .
