Kingsway, who has been accepted for in tivo steeplechases at Amberley to-morrow, has taken part in this meeting for the past five years with varying success. Ho is owned by Mr. G. N. M'Lcan, a prominent member of the Amberley Hunt Club. Acceptances for the Marton meeting close to-night at 8.30' o'clock. The Egmont-Wanganui Hunt .Club meeting will be held on the Waverley Kacecourse to-morrow. The acceptances received for the Amberley meeting to be held to-morrow' are, . intli the exception of the Hack Hurdles in which only three are engaged, very satisfactory, and a good day's sport 6liould be witnessed. There will shortly be another important addition to the Australian Turf in tho shape of a highly-bred three-year-old colt and six two-yea.r-old colts which It. Wootton is sending out to Sydney. Should the importations arrive in good trim they will be put into work forthwith. Tim Doolan, whose owner (Mr. G-.' L. Stead) is president of the Amberley Club, will probably take part in the Welter Handicap, nine furlongs, at the meeting to-morrow. The following foalings are • reported from, tho Waikanae Stud:—Satisl'air a filly, Aileen a colt, Margarette a filly, and Lady Principal a filly, all to Bezonian; Peace a filly to Birkenhead. At Ellersle, Angele has produced ■ a colt to liilbrOney,. and visits him again. The useful Derby Day, who was seen in a favourable light at the lliccarton meeting, is engaged in both sprint events' at Amberley. In .the five furlongs he has list. 51b., and iii the six furlongs-he has got off with a pound less. The Trentham. horseman H. Thompson leaves for Christchurch to-night to ride tho hunter For'ard at the -Amberley meeting. . Tho Multifid colt in J. Ayer's stables has been giving his trainer a lot of trouble of late, ajid doubts are expressed as to . his ability to stand a preparation. Arlington lias gone wrong, and is at present wearing an enlarged front joint. He is being indulged in a . spell in the paddock. J. W. Scott has decided not to persevere with the hunter Cocaine at the present time, and he has been returned to his owner's placo in the Wairarapa.Rene, who has been having a spell in the paddock during the past few -weeks, is now being led about on a hack, and in a few days she will re-commence training operations. Tho Gisborne-owned Fagot and Potentiality were aboard the "Warrimoo, which passed through here on her way to Auckland on Monday. While in England Trainer Geo. Prico consulted several of the leading Newmarket trainers as to the success or otherwise which attended tho operation for roaring. Price found the English trainers much against the operation, but they pointed out th®t it may be found more beneficial in warmer, climates. A. Shearsby took Byron in hand again this week. The old Martian gelding looks really well after his spell. The Awapuni trainer is also, working Mr. P. Armstrong's imported horses Tame Duck, the English-bred filly, and ICaiserine, the American-bved filly. Expect has been nominated, ill the principal events at Wanganui. The handsome Advance horse is moving well, but he makes, a noise. G'. Prico has not done much galloping with his five two-year-olds and so far none of them have been more than a furlong at top speed.- They will not be asked to race until the New Zealand Cup meeting in November.
