A SUCCESSFUL APPEAL

COMPLETELY EXONERATED, (By Telegraph.— Association.) Auckland, August 23. In tho Supreme Court to-day James Haiighton appealed against a conviction imposed-by Me. ■ Cuttcn, ■; S.M., wherobv ho had been sentenced to a term of throe months' imprisonment on a charge of indecency. A witness for the Grown, a'lad, gave evidence 'of identification of appellant. In giving evidence,. Haughton, a young married _ man, denied all knowledge of the iiicic'ienti and submitted a satisfactory alibi. His Honour, in sustaining; the appeal, held that the evidence of. identification Was quite insufficient.. Appellant was completely exonerated, and His Honour said he considered him to be a man of exemplary character.
