MR. GUNSON & TRENTHAM CAMP
"EVERYTHING POSSIBLE BEING DONE."By Tele«raph.—Press Association. Auckland, August 23. The Mayor of Auckland, Mr. J. H. Gunson. who has been vigorously opposing the Defence Minister's training camp policy and advocating a district camp, and who' visited and thoroughly inspected the Trentham Camp on Saturday, .- summarised his impressions in an interview to-day: "I came away,"' ho said, "confirmed in' my opinion that it is a matter for extreme regret that the Minister has so tenaciously adhered to' Trentham as' a camping ground, particularly as since tho developments of Juno and July last it has been demonstrated that there aTe, better sites available in the North Island—sites where the liability of requisitioning l these up-to-date. extensive ; medical quarters would not bo so likely, to arise; but summarising the whole, and taking into account the elaborate provisions which tho Minister, has now carried out, I am satisfied that everything, possible as far as Trentham is concerned, is bein" done, and nothing more of practical value can be said,''-
