"A final desperate effort to dislodge the Anglo-Fronch forces is being prepared. The authorities declare that, they will not hesitate at the prospect of losing fifty thousand men in carrying, out the effort. "Tho antagonism betweon German and Turkish officers is increasing. The Germans receive full pay monthly, while their Turkish comrades only receive small instalments. Many Turkish officers describe the war as having been initiated in tho Young Turk interest. They say it is riot only without object, but detrimental to Islam. These sentiments aro spreading to the rank and file. "Beating is being resorted to for the purpose of maintaining discipline. Several men have committed suicide to escape this degradation. With a viewto preventing men from surrendering, the officers tell them that tho English and French drown all prisoners."
