THE SCOTTISH CLUB. The- Scottish Harriers held their 2} miles Ladies' . Bracelet Handicap at Miramar on.Saturday. A field of seven participated. R. Waters, with a start of 2-min. 45sec., wont to the front early in the race, and had things all his own way, winning easily by about 150 yards. The rest of the field was well bunched, S. Waters just beating E. Welsh for second place by half a yard, with R. Ballantyne only a couple of yards further back. R. Ballantyne put up fastest time, covering the distance ill 13 min., 45seo. OLYMPIC QLUB. The Olympic Club assembled' at Seatoun- for a test race to select a team for the Provincial Championships, to be held at Miramar next Saturday. Twolve runners assembled near the Miramar Power Station and from hero were started on their journey over the usurtl five-milo course. The first six to finish were F. J. Byrne, F. Burrell, A. Maca-uley, F. Hodson, A. G. Osborne, W. Dnimmond. The above men were afterwards selected to represent t'he club in the championships. After the run the president (Mr.G. Frost) presented tho trophies won during the season, and during his speech expressed regret' at the club having to close its season so early, but thoroughly appreciated tho way in which its members had answered the oall. Cheers were afterwards given for tho president and tho members who are leaving for camp this week.
BROOKLYN H. AND "A.®. CLUB. The Brooklyn Club held one of its star events of the season, the'2J- miles Ladies' Bracelet Steeplechase, at Hutt Bark. Over seventy competitors and supporters were on tile'course. P. Wilton and G. Hutton laid the trail, which took a lap of the park and then left it, crossing the wooden bridge towards the sea. It then circled towards the Day's Bay Road and doubled back to the course, via t'he mud-flats and the Waiwotu Stream. Miss Clark, elected as starter, sent the men on their journey. H. Edhouso on the limit (2min. 40sec.) made a good pace and held his position for a mile and a half," when F. Harlen took the lead for a While, being headed by C. Willis about threequarters of a mile from home. R. Hoverd took the lead with about 440 yards to go, and won by about .ten yards, with C. Willis second, and P. Harvey and G. Hutton, dead heat, third. The winner was nominated by Mrs. Coop, and the second man by Miss F. Hall. N. Cummins put up the fastest time. Tho ladies' committee, Misses Clark and Fulton, and Mrs. Hovord, supplied afternoon tea. F. Harlen (club captain), and Messrs. Cummins, Harvey, and Bristow vicepresidents) congratulated the winners and thanked the ladies for their_ presence and support. Mr. P. Wilton, club handicapper and selector, also spoko and announced the teams to represent the club in tho Provincial C.C. Championship at Miramar on Saturday next. These are as follow: —A team —N. Cummins, G. Hutton, P. Harvoy, J. Douglas, H. Mio, and A. C. Olapham. B team—J. Molloy, R. Hoverd, C. Willis, O. Cummins, F. Harlen, and E. Extern.
