THE PRICE OF BREAD.
Sir, —When the price of wheat rose rapidly some months ago, flour at once increased. It was then stated, that many of the larger bakers had contracts . that lasted for months after the rise; notwithstanding this the price of bread was put up at once. Now the price of flour has fallen, but the price of bread is not to ho lowered hecause we are told the contracts of the larger bakers are still in force at the higher price. "With them it is heads I win tails you lose." But what about the unfortunate consumer. It would be interesting to know what profit the larger bakers have made 6ince flour rose in price, say . the last six months. I for one would support any baker that at once lowered the price of bread.— I am, etc., JOHN BISHOP. Wellington, August 19, 1915.
