ONSLOW BOROUGH COUNCIL

« The monthly meeting of the Onslow Borough Council was held last ■ night. There were present: 'l'lie Mayor (Mr. C. C. Crump), and Councillors J. C. Gardner, A. W. C. Palnior, L. Browne, H. Bronton-Rule, J. G. Smith, "W. Appleton, A. E. Budd, and J. M. Dale., I'liero was considerable discussion over a by Councillor Browne—"That it is desirable to remove the Onslow Municipal offices to a central site within the-borough." Councillor Bowden moved as an amendment "That as Onslow is at present constituted the council considers the present offices satisfactory and convenient for the transaction of borough business." The motion was lost, on the Mayor's _ casting vote. Councillor Browne also moved: "That in future all ordinary business of the council be_ transacted by full council, except business specially referred to tlio different committees." —Carried. Permission was granted to the National Reserve to use the rifle range tlioy applied for at a previous meeting. l'he question of the sanitary servico for tho borough was postponed to next meeting. It was docided that the application from ICaiwarra storekeepers for licenses to store kerosene be held over to next meeting. _ The Labour Department is to be written to inquiring if there is truth in the rumour that the Department intends to purchase the property in Kaiwarra of Messrs. J. D. and A. Cameron for workmen's dwellings. Councillor Palmer moved: "That the ratepayers of Kaiwarra be approached . . . to sanction a, loan of £1000 for the purposes of a fire brigade station and social hall, £250; relaying water mains, £320; furnishing and lining social hall, £130; first year'f interest at 5 per cent, and contingencies and cost of raising loan, £100. The rate required to provide interest at 5 per cent, and sinking fund at one per cent, being $d. in tho £ on unimproved value of. all properties within the area." Consideration of the motion was deferred.
