FIRES
—- SCHOOL BURNED DOWN. (By UelegrnDh — Press Association.) Dunedin, August 17. The school at Wylie's Crossing was burnt to. the ground late last night. 'I'll efire was discovered by Mr. Willaim Craig, who, with the schoolmaster (Mr. Blair), entere dthe burning ' building, but they were able only to save part of the furniture^'-It is supposed that in sweeping out the ashes from the_ fireplace a spark may have been left in the broom and smouldered', thus setting fire t to the building, which was of wood and | was very old.
