THE WOOL CONGESTION IN LONDON DOCKS
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright ("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.) (ftec. August 16, 9.40 p.in.) London, August 16. , The congestion of the London docks has seriously affected tlio wool 'shipments. Since the war London has been practically the only port receiving Britr ish imports of wool. For the first seven months of 1915 the total was 719,700,0001b5., compared with 546,700,994 last year, and the exports have decreased enormously, thus precipitating the congestion. Tho home demand, despite the huge requirements for the. military authorities, is insufficient to relieve the congestion, and in conseouenco the Government has notified tlitf Bradford Chamber of Commerce that unless traders remove .their wool from the docks and'warehouses, the Government will remove it regardless of cost. The wool traders consider this to be harsh, treatment. ' There aro huge quantities of croSsbi'eds available,' and if tho War Offico does not want this immediately, the exporters urge that they ought to be allowed to export to', their Allies' manufacturers. America wants crossbreds, and it is roported that tho Japanese' authorities are advocating the granting of export licenses.
