MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL

The monthly meeting of the MakaTa County Council was held yesterday. There were present: Councillors A. J. Taylor (in the oliair)j J. W. Hagerty, H. F. Monaghan, J. A. Pyle, S. Bryant, and G. Monk.

A report wa-s received from the Borough Engineer in regard to the damage: done by the recent flood in the various ridings of -the county. This, stated the, engineer, was considerable, and would involve extensive repairing work. It was decided to empower the engineer to have; this work earned out immoctiately.

Notice of motion was given by Councillor Hagerty, '"That the council provide a special , order permitting it to issue licenses for the oreotion of boat sheds and that the license'fee for such be fixed at 10s. a year." It was decided, on the motion of Councillor Bryant, to support in its' entirety- the resolution olf the Hutt Valley Conference- in regard to the ■maintenance.of the Hutt Road and to empower .the ohairmaii- and clerk to take, an active part in support of such. . Accounts' amounting to £375 ss. 9d., of whioh £158 Is. was the levy of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, ivere passed for payment., ■ '
