A COOD SUGGESTION.

Sir,—May I bo allowed to suggestsome change in the nomenclature of the Southern Alps ? It has always been a source of annoyance to mo to see the : map of our great' mountain ranges plastered over with German ' names—, Mueller is everywhere, Hochstetter,; Lendenfeldt, Maltebrun, Francis Joseph, Kron Prinz, Rudolph, Hai--dinger—the list might be indefinitely, extended. Surely we might find mora - fitting names amongst our own pion- , eers, names the Dominion, should feel-' deserving of perpetuation; names whicli would not jar one's nerves as all things German are bound to do for tho next generation or two.—l am, etc., P. Wellington, August 6, 1915.
