MILITARY OFFICER CONVICTED. (By Teleirauh.—ljresa Association,) Dunedln, August 11. In the Supreme Court to-day James lurkman was convicted on the charge of threatening to burn down the Victona Bridge Hotel, jiear Kawarau Gorge, but was reoommendod for clemency owing to the excited state lie was in when he made tho threat. Sentence was deferred. John Robert Henderson, of Milton, was charged with stealing £20 paid to him on behalr of tho 14th Otago Regiment, and witli making a false entry with intent to defraud. The accused was convicted on both counts, but was recommended for leniency on account of the laxity in keeping accounts and making disbursements. Sentence was deferred. The charge against accused of stealing £5 received for ammunition is partly heard
