BRISCOE AND CO. GIVE £50. Tho Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) iias opened a fund, the object of which is to purchase machine-guns for our forces at tho Dardanelles. This matter, has been -seriously taken up in Canada, South Africa, and Australia, and as the outcome of big efforts that are being made in England, America, and at present in Australia, it is hoped that the weakness in the equippient of our farces will soon be remedied. . In response to an appeal made in these columns yesterday b.v Mr. Arthur Hopkins (manager of the Belfast' Freezing Works at ChristclnircTiJ, Messrs. Briscoe and Co. forwarded a cheque ■for £50 to the Mayor yesterday. It •is understood that the employees of several big firms are about to Taise money towards this deserving object.
