AUSTRIAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. (Rec. 'August 10, 8.40 p.m.) Amsterdam, August ,10. An Austrian official communique states; "Ail attempt by feeblo Italiail forces to penetrate our position at Zagora failed. "One of our patrols on the Tyrol frontier repulsed the enemy.- a, half com.' pany inflicting heavy losses." IMPENDING FAMINE AT GORIZIA, Rome, [August 9. Tho Austrians now retain only two quarters of Gorizia. Ten thousand out of forty thousand residonts remain. There is much rowdyism and many free fights in consequence of tho impendi-ig famine. (Rec. August 10, 8.40 p.m.) , Eerno, 'August 10. Messages from Larbatch (in Austria) state that thirty thousand Italians with powerful artillery made'a five hours' attack on Gorizia to-day. A number of Austrian batteries were silenced, and after tho last bayou? l - charge the Austrians fell back towards the town, losing two thousand dead and eight hundred prisoners. 1 ITALY SUMMONING MORE MEN. Paris, 'August 9. Reports from Turin stato that Italy is summoning the 1892 to 1894 classes., previously rejected as medically unfit, for further examination, NEW AUSTRIAN CORPS FOR THE ITALIAN FRONT.("Times" and Sydnoy "Sun" Services.), London, August' 9. Milan reports that six Austrian armies engaged against Russia aro each furnishing an army corps for the Isonzo. Austrian headquarters has solacted tho youugest and most vigorous regiments. The Austrian Alpine regiments liavo also been withdrawn from Russia for use in Italy. The total Austrians. present aro two hundred thousand in the Isonzo and Carso, and forty thousand in the Tyrol and Trentino. Extreme measures are being taken to recruit officers. The special course of instruction only lasts a month. Since the commencement of the war, Austria has lost 40,000 officers, including 30 generals. "
