PATRIOTIC ASSAULT-AT-ARMS
Tho Wellington Patriotic Society is not resting on its laurels in connection with the raising of money for the AVoundcd Soldiers' Fund. Arrangements are now being made to hold'in tho Newtown Park a grand patriotic assault-at-anns towards tlie end of the month, under the personal direction of Captain M'Laggan, the jujitsu expert, swordsman, and physical cultural, who is noted for arranging sucli displays. This display will, it is anticipated, be participated in by a body of about 500 troops and polico, who will give a most interesting- display. The Defence authorities a.ro to be approached for the loan for tho afternoon of some of the trained troops now in camp, and tho polico will give an exhibition of the trick they are capable of performing when criminals grow refractory and tlie,y happen to be in a tight corner. A display of daring horsemanship is mentioned as one of the items in tho programme of ovents,.
