The Secretary of tho Volunteer Sisterhood l]as issued the following notice to the volunteer matron at the Trentham Military Hospital: "Will yon please c;ill the attention of the volunteers to the fact that the Tahiti is arriving with nearly 500 sick and wounded men on board within the next few weeks, and that- because of this and other probable shipments of sick and wounded men, and the great need for professionally trained women, on board, I havo agreed that our volunteers shall render local service in New Zealand with the best sustainment and cheer they are capablo of? I know the majority of our voltmeters are not particularly desirous of going abroad, but even those who are must be ready to stay in service hero for as long as ever they are desired to do so by the-military health authorities; and it would help me greatly in my work if our volunteers would always readily admit to themselves and others tho greatly superior claims of the trained mirses for service abroad, as long as the supply of trained nurses holds out, and proves equal to the overwhelming necessities which are impending." The pledge signed by the volunteers is to givo "0110 year or more of our lives for the service at home or aboard of nursing and tending sick and wounded."
