CLERGY ASK FOR WET CANTEENS
TO CONTROL LIQUOR TRAFFIC WITH SOLDIERS. • By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Brisbane, August 9. A deputation ol' clergy representing tho Protestant and Catholic Churches asked the Premier to establish a wet canteen' at the camp for the sale of beer only, and to restrict .the hours of sale of liquor to soldiers. It was urged that this would enable tho control of tho sale and regulate the quantity of the drink. Tho Premier promised to submit tho request to the military authorities, in whoso province tho matter Jay.
