HUNTLY DISASTER
SCHEME OF TRUSTS
PROVISION FOR SUFFERERS
Tho Supreme Court has settled a scheme of trusts under which'provisionfor sufferers by the Huntly coal mino disaster of September, 1914, is fixed. All sums raised for tho relief of dependants of persons who lost their lives in tho disaster aro to bo placed in tho Public Trust Office to bo invested in the Common Fund and administered by the Public Trustee, who is empowered to demand, receive, aiul recover all sums of money raised. Tho Public Trusteo will stand possessed of all sums paid or to be paid to him for tho relief of tho dependants of those killed upon the following trusts: —
(a) To pay los. per week to every woman who has been rendered a- widow: (b) to' pay ss. per week on account of every child under the age of fourteen years who has lost its father through tho disaster, provided that where any sucli chjld has lost or shall loso both its parents the weekly sum payable on its account shall be 7s. Cd.; (c) to pay one woman who, though not rendered a widow through the accident, yet lost her eldest son in the disaster, 15s. per week ou account of herself, and a, further os. per week each on account of her two children, until they respectively attain the age of fourteen years, provided that in the event of the woman dying before both children attain the age of fourteen years, 7s. Gd. per week shall be paid to such of them as are under the age of fourteen years until he or she or tliey reach that age; (d) to pay to another woman who, though not rendered a widow through tho accident, yet lost two sons in tho disaster, lus. per week; (e) in the event of the remarriage of any widow who is a beneficiary hereunder, to cease payment of any sums out of the fund on her own account, but not on account of her children ; (f) in the event of the circumstances of any of the beneficiaries being improved by reason of tho payment of worker's compensation or damages, or otherwise, to vary or terminate the payments fixed by this order, as tho Public Trustee in his discretion, after consulting the advisory trustees of tho fund, shall from time to time determine; (g) in the event of tho foregoing trusts not exhausting the sums paid to the Public Trustee for tho relief of the dependants of those killed in the disaster to hold tho money remaining unexpended upon trust for the benefit of dependants of persons killed in similar mining accidents involving loss of life, tho precise nature of tho distribution of tho unexpended balanco to be determined by the Supreme Court. Advisory trustees of the fund consist of two members of tho Himtly lieliof Committee appointed by the Himtly Town Board, and two of such members appointed by tho Miners' Union for tho timo being at Huntly. Lcavo is reserved to the Attornoy-Gcneral, or tho Publie Trusteo, or any member of tho Hnntlv ftelief Committee, or any person claiming any interest in tho fund to apply at any timo to tho Supremo Court to vary these provisions, or to give directions on any point or question relating to the scheme or to the fund.
