DUNEDIN CRIMINAL SESSIONS. ffly Telegraph.- i'n- • Dunedin, August 9. Tlie criminal sessions of the Supremo Court opened this morning. Mr. Justice Sim said that t-lio calendar was 1111-, usually large for Dunedin, comprising fifteen charges against six persons, but no fewer than ten were cases against two Territorial officers, charged with theft. Alfred Grant for false pretences (two charges) and forgery (two charges) came up for sentence, and received I' 2 months' imprisonment; George Maxwell M'Kay came up for sentence, charged with theft, and received six months' imprisonment, and was declared an habitual criminal; Roland Zimmerman, for theft, also came up for .sentence, and received six months' imprisonment. Charles King, for opening a postal packet, was fined £5, in default imprisonment not exceeding one month; 'l'hos. Keid was acquitted on a charge of having committed an unnatural offence.
