D RUGBY ; THE AFTERNOON' GAMES. For what may be termed an "off" game, the match between Petone and Trentham at the park this afternoon ]ias aroused a considerable amount of interest' both in the town and at the Trentham Camp. The soldiers' team is a strong one, and contains the names of such well-known players as "Wilson, Murray, Cameron, Weston, Roberts, Ross, Taylor, and others. The Camp will have tho support of a large number of "barrackors," who have been granted leave, and will come in this afternoon by special train. Petone will be represented by their strongest team and may be expected to put up their usual strenuous game. In the cup fixtures the l'oncke v. Athletic game at tho park should be a close-fought contest, -as much depends on the result. There will bo tho '-usual game for early arrivals. 1 ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL AMENDED FIXTURES. On account of the Hospital team baing -unable to come into town, tho following amended fixtures have bean made for to-day's Association football games: — First Division—Thistle v. Y.M.O.A. (A), Basin Reserve, 3.15, Mr. B. L. Salmon: Diamonds v. Y.M.C.A. (B), Duppa Street, Mr. A. E. Wells. Fourth B Division—'Wadestown v. Y.M.C.A., Duppa. Street, Mr. F. Thomas. LAWN TENNIS The Management Committee of the N.Z. Lawn Tennis Association, at a meeting held on Thursday, ordered that a record of tho valuable l services rendered to tho association by tho late Mr. L. G. Mackay be placed on the minutes, and the committee passed a voto of sympathy and condolence at bis death. It was reported that in connection with the proposal to establish a "Wilding Memorial Fund a circular appeal has been, sent to all affiliated associations for distribution amongst affiliated clubs and players thoiighoiit the Dominion; Copies of the new constitution and rules of tho Australasian Lawn Tennis Association wero received and considerTho special meeting of the Australasian Council, held at Sydney on July 1C last, threw, out a proposal that, a Management Committee similar as to powers to that of the New Zealaud Asscciation bo set up by the Australasian bedy, and also.ruled out of order a proposal by the New Zealand Association that the Davis Cup funds be now distributed in tho proportions of one-third to New Zealand arid two-thirds to the State' Associations. It was decided by the Management Committee that the Australasian Association be requested to in future show separately the amounts standing to ,the credit of tho Davis Cup Fund resulting from matches played in Australasia and that resulting from matches played other than in Australasia. It was pointed out that New Zealand is entitled to one-third of tho fund upon a secession from the Australasian Association, of the amount standing to the credit of the fund as a result ot matches played in Australasia, whilst the balance of the fund was distributable in equal proportions under the new rules at any time that a. majority of the affiliated associations, (seven in. all) decided upon a distribution. The Australasian Association has decided to establish a "Wilding Memorial. Fund, but it was resolved that tho New .Zealand Association await the response to its own appeal beforo contributing to Australia's. In accordance with replies _ received from affiliated' associations which unanimously approved of tho proposal, it was decided to cancel the Now Zealand championship meeting,' 1915, fixed to be held in Wellington during the Christmas holidays. Mr. G. F. Smytho was elected a member of tho committed in place of Mr. F. B. Spilsbury. ' SWIMMING CHILDREN'S CERTIFICATES.' The following list shows tho number of certificates that have been won by the children of the various Wellington schools for having swatm distances. In a carnival held at Honolulu lately, Duko Kah'anamoku, tho champion swimmer, 1 -who was in New Zealand lately, covered 50 yards in the record timo of 23sec. He did not win the race, RIFLE SHOOTING •A match was fired on Thursday evening between the City Corporation and the Railway Clubs. The conditions were: 16 men aside, 7 shots, , with optional sighter. The result was a win for tho Railway team by 74 points, the aggregates being; Railway 1037 and Corporation 963. The highest scores for Railway were Berry 68, Marris 68, and for Corporation, Campbell 66 and Hunt 66.
