LOWER HUTT COURT

: Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., presided at the monthly sitting of the Lower Hutt Magistrate's Court yesterday. Mr. J. Wilkin,,. J.P., was also on tho bench'. . * ■ For allowing stock to wander, the following were fined 55., with the addition of 7s. costs in each case:—L. J. Ell (two charges), F. Meyrick (three charges), Albert Peck (four charges). N. Berg, H. Eli, F: Patterson, and F. Twomey (each two charges). M. Wiegmann was lined ss. A large batch of Territorials appeared to answer charges of failing t-6 fulfil their military obligations. Henry John Barlow was lined 305., with 75." costs, in default forty-eight hours' military detention, while A. F. . Franklin was penalised to tho extent of 55., with 7s. oosts. In the cases of Henry Baumbor, 10. O. Pinney, and L. Silva, it was stated that the breaches were duo to misunderstandings on the part of the Territorial officers. These informations were accordingly dismissed. The caso of D. F. Neil! was adjourned for three months, in order to allow the defendant to attend drill regularly. L. M. Beazor, who produced a medical certificate testifying as to his physical unfitness, was convicted and discharged.
