A MINISTER HONOURED

ADDRESS PRESENTED TO DR. ELLIOTT. There was a large gathering in th« Kent Terrace Presbyterian Schoolroom last night to do honour to the Rev. J.Kennedy'Elliott, 8.A., D.D., on the occasion of his having conferred on him the honour of Doctor of Divinity. The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) presided, and associated with him <m the platform were tlio Rev. James Paterson : (Modera* tor of the Wellington Presbytery), Dr< A. K. Newman (member for the diw trict), the Hon. J. G. W. Aitken, the Rev. Dr. Gibb, Mr. David Robertson, and ministers from other denominations* Occasion was taken to present Dr. El* liott with a beautifully illuminated adt dress, and framed photograph of the office-bearers of the church. The ad» dress was presented on behalf of tha members of the Kent Terrace Presbyterian Church by .Mr. D. Robortson (senior elder), and was .signed by tbe office-bearers and 450 members of the church. ;• During the evening speeches echoing the sentiments expressed in the address were made by tho more prominent people present. Dr. Elliott suitably r&« sponded, and said that the occasion was ono of "the happiest and proudest of hia life."

Musical and elocutionary .items were rendererl by blisses liiva Siuitli ajid Marie Fix.
