INCREASED EXPORTS
FIGURES FOR NINE MONTHS,
' A return was laid on the table of the Bouse of Representatives yesterday (asked for by Mr. G. W. Ilussell, M.P.) stowing the quantities and values of the exports from the Dominion for the nine months ended May 31. 1914, and May 31, 1915. Mr. Russell asked that the ■return: should include all commodities -raised in value by tho ivar, ami more particularly wool, hides, moat, and butter. The figures, supplied fry tho Comptroller of Customs, were as -under, those in parentheses being for the 1915 period 1 :—
' Butter: 395,922cwt., £2,135,669 (390,425cwt.. £2,198,914); increase, £63,245. Cheese: 747,283cwt., £2,219,714 (666,829cwt., £2,053,903); decrease £165,811. Oats: 70,130 centals, £19,585 (510,309 centals, £203,031); increase, £183,446. Wheat: 8980 centals, £3064 (1664 centals, £665); decrease, £2396. Hides: 140,884, £209,572 . (176,570, £311,393); increase, £101,821. Hops: 262,5581b., £13,785 (200,0081b., £11,004); decrease, £2781. Meat.—Frozen beef: 271,897cwt., £394,258 (552,304cwt., £1,117,253); increase, £782,995. Lambs: 784,348 carcasses, £1,741,374 (606,134 carcasses, £1,511,776); increase, £229,598. Mutton: 924,458 carcasses, £1,409,913 (870,234 carcasses, £1,699,672); increase, £289j760. Rabbits and Hares: 52,02-lcwt., £42,262 (64,556cwt., £58,266); increase, £16,004. Sheepskins (with wool): 4,876,7181b., £161,749 (4,405,928, £167,549); increase, £5800. Sheepskins (without ivool): 457,915, £448,597 (435,801, £443,832); decrease, £4765.
Wool: 179,437,0241b., £7,409,491 (188,039,2721b., £9,008,331); increase, £1,598,840.
■ Tlie net increase in the value of the total exports was £2,353,797.
