HUGE DISPATCHES. In' the House of Representatives yesterday tho • Postmaster-General • (the Hon. R. H. Rhodes) stated, in Teply to a question, that lie had heard'of the complaints of lack of New Zealand newspapers at tho Dardanelles. Steps have been taken to meot tho complaints, and huge dispatches of newspapers, occupying many hundred feet of cubic space were made'by every mail by way of Australia. He was unable to agree to send newspapers free of cost. "The newspaper postage to Egypt is Id. a copy and tho cost of landing the newspaper at the Post Office, Alexandria, is more than Id. Tho Defence Departs ment is willing to send, free of cost by transports, newspapers for hospitals in Egypt and Malta. Any newspapers forwarded by rail to the Defence Shipping Office, No. 3 Shed,_ King's' Wharf, Wellington, will be carried by the Railway Department free of chargc. Thero h no objection to sending any newspapers as freight by any opportunity."
