FUND FOR SICK AND WOUNDED
Sir, —Seeing there appears to bo a good deal of dissatisfaction about tlie proposed pensions for our sick and wounded soldiers and their dependents, may I asl; through your valuable paper w'liat is going to bo done with the huge amount of money now being collected all over the Dominion, if it is not to considerably .augment these pensions?.
Is this money that" is being squeezed out of-'every-person by every and any device to be spent on luxuries or only as ait-extra, or is it to bo carefully and systematically applied where most needed, forming a sort.'of pension and augmenting wliat the Government is so generously giving? We havo got to remember that the larger, the pension the heavier the taxing of the whole community,l and I believe it is understood by many of tlioso who aro almost starving' themselves (for the poor are giving mostly) to give to t'his fluid, that it is to assist the pensions and so save further taxation. I think it should be made very clear- what is really going to be done with all this money that is now being raised, and unless it is going to be applied as pensions or to materially help those who really need help, I consider a great wrong has been done in taking from many who, while they have • given willingly, have given their all, and these aro not the ones who have got all the fun, excitement, and pleasure out- of working for a. good .cause. Trusting some more able pen t'lian mine will take up this matter, — I. am, etc., JUSTICE.
