WELLINGTON SOCIETY MEETS,
The fortnightly meeting of the committee of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was held yesterday. Mr. William Watson presided. . In his" fortnightly report Captain Henry, the society's . inspector, ; mentioned varioUs cases of cruelty to animals which he had' discovered and remedied during tho two weeks., Subscriptions were received and acknowledged as follow for the past fortnight Mrs. V. Riddiford, £2; G. Fowlds,' Ltd., £1 15.;,-J. O'Brien and Co., 10s.; Dr., Allen Thompson, D. W. Virtue and Co., and L. Stidolph, ss. each; W. M'Lay, Baton, "Friend,". W. Belcher, C. B. Kline, Vickery. and J. Glover, 2s. 6d. each; "H.A.," 2s. Total, £5 ss. 6d.
