EXTRAORDINARY POWERS CLAIMED. By Tel<«raj>li.—Press Association. r . Whangarei, July 27. A' shell for which extraordinary powers are claimed has beon invented by Mr. A. H. Cotton, of Otakairangi. Tho claims include that the new projectile will cover a greater area witli flying pieces than any known shell. It is also claimed that it will especially prove effective against barbed wire entanglements, and that, finally, it will mako tho most deadly bomb yet conceived for aeroplanes. Entirely now principles aro involved. Tho invention ha 3 deeply impressed military men, and a leading New Zealand scientist has pronounced the invention to be all that is claimed for it. Particulars have been sent to Mr. Lloyd Gcorgo (British Minister for Munitions) and the Premier of tho Commonwealth. The inventor is of tho opinion that it was of no use ofFeriug it to New Zealand.
