PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL

At last evening's meeting of the Petone Borough Council, there were present: The Mayor (Mr. J. W. M'Ewan), and Councillors .Tones, Anderson, List, Cox, Forsyth, Brocklebauk, and jM'Kciissio.

Tlie Commissioner of Crown Lands fidvised that with the view of offering the unsold lands in. the Normandalo settlement for sals for cash and doferrcd payment, a new valuation had been made with; the result that the values had been considerably reduced, and before taking further steps inquired, if the council' was prepared to purchase any .of the . sections at the reduced prices. It was resolved that tho Commissioner be asked, in view of the fact that the present and previous Governments had given grants of lantl For catchment areas, to favourably consider the request to hand over the whole of the area, as a reserve, in order to ensure the purity, of the town water supply. \ On the motion of Councillor M'Kenzie, it was resolved to enter into negotiations with the directors of tho Petone Woollen Mill, for tho purpose of obtaining a twelve feet rignt of way as an entrance to the Koro Koro reservoir from the Hutt Eoad. , %
