BRITAIN'S NEW ARMY
• NEAMG THE FOUR MILLION MARK ——-v-' PIRATE SUBMARINES By,ToSijfrapli—Press Association—CopyrlgM ; London, July 25. The "Observer," in a review of tlie year of war, in answering pessimists, saya: "Within sis months wo shall have.nearer, four than three million, men under arms or.in training. Nothing can prevent Britain's military force turning the balance.against Germany's forty years of preparation. "It is impossible to lift the veil whicli covers the operations of tho-Navy, but wo- know that a considerable number of German submarines will never return to port. No outsider can tell how many have boon sunk or captured, but the Admiralty, has no reason to be dissatisfied. The now construction since the outbreak' of war is probably the most notable in maritime annals, .thanks largely to Lord Fisher's; iiivcntivo genius." "... •' GERMAN NEWSPAPER IMPRESSED, Amsterdam, July 25. Tlie ''Kolnischo Zeitung,"<in an article on Britain's now army, pays a high tribute to Lord Kitchener's talent for organisation. : Even Germany, in her envy, must admit that 'his performance is of the first rank. Although the now army is composed largely of inferior elements, it will soon become valuable, and it would be the greatest mistake to under-estimate it.
