FIE ST MEETING OK DELEGATES,

'Tho' first annual ineoting'pif delegates of tho recehtlyrfonned Dominion Estate Agents arid Land 'Auctioneers' Association of Neiyv Zealand was held at tho secretary's room, Brown's Buildings, Joluißtofr .Street, Wellington,' on. Thursday. morning last. The meeting at once formed itself into .-a-, deputation, to the Primo Minister in connection with t'lio present .unsatisfactory state of-:tie law relating to licensed land : agents, and waited'on liim at.lo aim;, accompanied by: Mr. C. P.'Skerrdtt, K.C.

• Mr., A. T. Bate introduced the business, and briefly pointed out the-prin-cipal points wliicli needed legislative action. Ho stated that, they were not asking for a. monopoly, and would gladly welcome a largo increase to their num-j hers, bij.t as land agents were compelled to pay license fees to tho Government to enable tliem to do t'hoir business, they were specially entitled to receive protection against unlicensed persons acting ;as, and. doing-' the.-Jjusinoss.-bf, |and agents', l arid, also to kayo any ,'urijust restrictions and limitations at present, imposed oil t'lioni xemovedi- Mr. Skerrett then went through and explained tlie principal proposals put forward, whicll lie represented were" only fair, and reasonable.

; The Primo, Minister replied. that? tlie representations made would- receive' consideration, 1 and he. would discuss them with the' Minister ill charge of .the Bill before it was' brought down again. , Upon resuming, the rules were finally considered and adopted. Officers were elect-ed as follow: —President, Mr. A. T. Bate; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. Garrett and Tancred A." Cooper; treasurer, Mr./S. Harcourt; auditor, ; Mr. E. iff. Hunt; secretary, Mr. G. R.'N, Wright.
