TWO .WOMEN IN TROUBLE.

A' young woman named Ada Beany nppeared before Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court on Saturday, cliargcd with tho theft of various goods, tho property of H. Plummer, whilo an elderly woman named Sarali Waring was charged with receiving the goods in question knowing them to be stolen. Mr. P. W. Jackson appeared on behalf of tho two accuscd. The evidence showed that the younger accused had stolen various articles from the Kclburn Tea Kiosk, where she was employed. These articles were kept in the accused Wiring's house. The Magistrate agreed to give both accused another chance, and merely convicted and ordered them to com© up for sentence when called upon. The younger accused was ordered to refund tho Talue of the goods stolen, £2 4s. 4d. . OTHER CASES. Margaret Dobson -was remanded for a week on a charge of assaulting Henrietta Flegeltaub, proprietress of the Star and Garter Hotel, so as to cause her actual bodily harm. Bail was allowed on the application of slr. H. F. O'Leary ill £50. ' ■ A sentence of seven days' imprisonment was imposed on James Monfeith, charged with stealing two rugs valued at £1 from John Fox. A Dalmatian named Marko Barac was charged with forging the name of Anthony Suidenda Mazitony to a voucher for £16. On the application of ChiefDetectivo Boddam he was remanded to appear at To Aroha on Friday nest. "He's one of those able-bodied men who come to town- to loaf," ,was tho description given by Inspector Hendroy to James Morant, charged with being idlo and disorderly in that he was found begging for alms in Lambton Quay. A sentence of one month's imprisonment Was imposed. John R_. M'Vicar was convicted and discharged for insobrioty, and was fined 405., with the option of seven days' imprisonment, for indecency. For insobriety, James Patrick O'Brien was sentenced to one month's imprisonment, and Isidore Jacobus (prohibited) svas fined 405., in default seven days' imprisonment.
