FRENCH CLUB
The ladies of the French Club gave a. musical evening last Thursday night. Madame de Cleene presided, and there was a very good attendance. As an overture the Misses Edimnidson gave a piano duet. This was followed by a song, "Mon. Coeur' s'ouvre a ta Voix,"' sung .by Mademoiselle do Cleene. Then followed a flute solo by Miss Simpson, who received a hearty encore. Miss' Hind and Miss van Staveren gave a dialogue ill character, which depicted the troubles of a'Frenchwoman-trying to learn English.' 'A recitation by Miss Hnlme brought' the first part to a close. Miss. Maud Edmundson opened the second part with a piano solo. Next, Madame de Cleene sang "Salut a la France" with much spirit, and Master R. Wh.vto sang "II pleut, Bergere." Mr. T. King recited a short poem of th? 14th century, followed by. an English translation of part of it. "Mr. C. J. Cooke then sang "Mon Ame a Dieu, mon Coeur a toi."' The next item'was another humorous _ dialogue given with much spirit by Miss Hind -and Miss Mead. During the evening a presentation was made to. Mrs. (Dr.) Whyte.
